This policy covers the Roam Reels iPhone app and this website. We will update it before a new feature changes how personal information is handled.
Roam Reels turns travel routes into animated map videos. In the current version, your saved routes, preferences and local sign-in state stay on your device. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising.
1. What Roam Reels handles
- Routes and settings: places, route order, transport choices and visual preferences you add. These are stored locally on your device.
- Local sign-in state: if you enter an email in the current sign-in screen, it is stored on your device. Roam Reels does not currently run a remote account database.
- Support messages: information you choose to email us, such as a problem description, screenshots, iPhone model or iOS version.
2. Maps, routes and exports
Roam Reels uses Mapbox to display maps, search for places and calculate routes. A search term, route coordinates, IP address and standard network or device information may be sent to Mapbox when those features run. Mapbox processes that information under its privacy policy.
Video frames and the finished MP4 are created on your device. Roam Reels does not upload your exported videos. An export leaves your device only when you choose to share it through another app or service.
3. Permissions
Roam Reels asks for photo-library permission only when you choose to save a finished video. It adds the export; it does not need to read your existing photos to animate a route. You can change access at any time in iOS Settings.
4. Why information is used
We use information only to provide the app: to build and save routes, show maps, calculate movement, export videos, remember local preferences, answer support questions, protect the service and meet legal obligations.
The current version does not include a separate advertising SDK or third-party analytics tracker. Apple may still process App Store, purchase, crash or diagnostic information under your Apple and device settings.
5. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information is shared only when needed with Mapbox or Apple for the functions described above, with a service provider helping us answer support, or when required by law or necessary to protect people, rights or the service.
6. Retention and your choices
Local routes, settings and sign-in information remain until you delete them or remove the app, subject to iOS backup behavior. Temporary export files may remain in the app cache until the app or iOS clears them. We keep support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain records or meet legal duties.
- Edit or delete saved routes in the app
- Sign out to remove the local sign-in state
- Revoke photo-library permission in iOS Settings
- Avoid adding a home address, live location or other sensitive place to a shareable route
- Email us to ask a privacy question or request help
7. Children, security and international processing
Roam Reels is not directed to children under 13 or a higher minimum age required where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure. Mapbox, Apple or other providers may process information in countries other than yours under their own privacy terms and applicable safeguards.
